Jackie and Shadow, the parents of the proud Bald Eagle, welcomed their third chick into their feathered family on Saturday morning, days after their two hatch debuted.
Movement was found in the third egg on Thursday via a live stream. The triplet plunged through the shell and was almost visible just after 2am on Saturday. It had appeared completely by 6:13am just in time for the food.

“All three beautiful bundles of fluff were completely visible and I was sitting and ready for breakfast,” Big Bear Valley’s Friends of Big Bear Valley shared on its Facebook page. “They all look dry, healthy and full of energy. As they swing around for positioning, the latest ones still have plenty of food from the egg yolk for a few days.”
The nonprofit protection group runs a 24-hour webcam trained in the Eagles nest overlooking Big Bear Lake, and has been closely monitoring bird couples for 10 years. Sandy Steers, executive director of Friends in Big Bear Valley, said the livestream has recently seen a record-breaking audience.
Thousands of people followed the Eagles’ parenting journey, supported by the good news on Saturday.

In 2023, the Eagles eggs were eaten by Raven. Last year, severe cold weather prevented another trio of eggs from hatching.
Jackie and Shadow are enthusiastically leaning towards their chicks, exchanging feeding and sleep times while protecting from the elements.
