Ahead of Tuesday’s Democratic primary for New York City mayor, frontrunner Andrew Cuomo landed another well-known supporter.
Cuomo, who resigned in 2021 during his third term as New York governor amid multiple scandals, was approved by former President Bill Clinton. Cuomo served as secretary for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during the Clinton administration.
“As president, I chose Andrew as my secretary for housing and urban development, and he didn’t disappoint me, but more importantly, he didn’t disappoint the country. He built public housing across the country,” Clinton said in a statement Sunday.

Cuomo, who is looking to make a campaign comeback and political redemption, has once seen a larger lead than other Democrats in the 11-business field shrink.
Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist national legislator from Queens, has narrowed down the gap with Cuomo over the past few months. This is done using a rank selection voting system in which voters rank candidates by prioritizing the vote.

Progressive Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York City’s most well-known leader, supported Mamdani earlier this month. Last week, longtime progressive champion and two-time Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders endorsed Mamdani, who originally originally from Uganda.
With multiple candidates running left in the primary, Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders’ support was aimed at consolidating the progressive voter support behind Mamdani.

Distant third in the latest polls is New York City Secretary Bloodlander.
Lander made the headline last week after being arrested by a Manhattan Department of Homeland Security agents and allegedly assaulted a federal official as he attempted to escort the defendant from an immigration court.
Cuomo, his campaign and alliance groups have questioned Mamdani’s experience, which leads cities of more than 8 million people in recent weeks.
“Zohran Mamdani is a 33-year-old dangerous, inexperienced lawmaker who passed three bills with staff who fit in elevators in New York.” “We need someone ready to roll. Andrew Cuomo managed the state and management crisis, from Covid to Trump.”
Cuomo is targeting cards.
Additionally, Clinton lit the spotlight on Cuomo’s experience with his support statement.
“New York City faces a major challenge. There is a desperate need for affordable housing, homelessness is at a crisis level and public safety needs to be restored. New York is essential to choose a mayor with the ability, talent and experience to do the job,” the former president said.
Clinton told New York City voters “to not underestimate the complexity of meaningful challenges and the need for the next mayor to be qualified to do the job. New Yorkers need to choose their ability to change. Andrew is confident that New York can turn New York around.”
Cuomo was recently approved by former New York City mayor, billionaire entrepreneur and media giant Michael Bloomberg.
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will speak at the New York City Carpenter Council on Sunday, March 2, 2025 during a campaign to the Mayor of New York.
Cuomo, 67, fought to clear his name after 11 sexual harassment accusations (he repeatedly denied) over the past four years. He was also under investigation to handle the Covid-19 pandemic amid allegations that his administration has kept a modest and modest COVID-related death in state nursing homes.
Last month, the Justice Department launched a criminal investigation into Cuomo after accusing Republicans of lying to Congress about decisions they made as governor during the coronavirus pandemic.

The primary election won’t be until Tuesday, but more than 384,000 Democrats voted early and ended Sunday.
The Democratic primary winner is traditionally considered the overwhelming frontline in the November general election in a Democrat-controlled city.
However, this year, the general election campaign may be a little more unpredictable.

Adams’ polls sank before he was charged with five counts last year. This denounced the mayor of bribery and fraud as part of a “long-term” scheme to personally benefit from contact with foreigners.
The mayor repeatedly overtured President Donald Trump, and the Justice Department dismissed the corruption charges earlier this year, so it seemed Adams could work with the Trump administration in oppression of illegal immigration.
