A minority of House Democrats joined the Republicans and passed a resolution on Thursday to block Biden-era appliance regulations.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced new rules on the final day of former President Joe Biden’s term to ban non-condensed natural gas fire heaters by 2029.
The rules were set to come into effect in March, but face headwinds inside the house after a resolution overturning the appliance rules.
“The Democrats want control,” said R-Ala, who introduced the Congressional Review Act (CRA) in January on Fox News Digital. Rep. Gary Palmer said ahead of the vote. “Their cold rhetoric leads to cold houses and cold water.”

“The American people were tired of being told what they could do, what they could buy, what they could wear, what they could wear, what they could use,” Palmer said on the floor of the house. “That’s why we introduced this resolution because we are determined to restore the quality of life in this country that Democrats enjoyed before taking over the White House, House and Senate.”
“We believe that Americans can afford groceries, can afford cars, and can educate them, so that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing,” he added.
The vote warned Frank Windsor, the owner of a tankless water heater manufacturing facility, recently that if new rules were enacted, hundreds of jobs could be at risk, telling Fox Business that “very efficient and very effective technology for water heating” is not in line with consumer interests.

“The scary thing is that most Americans don’t understand what’s going on with these. I explain the widespread impact on consumers of the fundamental energy decisions people are making,” the president of Rinnai America Corporation told Fox Business.
House Republicans are working to introduce a resolution that overturns Biden’s climate agenda, particularly household appliance regulations.
Angel Gomez (L) and Franz Mendes, engineers from John G. Webster, a heating, cooling and plumbing company, will remove the gas water heater from their home in Washington, DC on August 28, 2024.
The House passed another CRA on Wednesday, overturning the Biden-era Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methane emissions and waste reduction incentive program.
