Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is in line with the democratic mayoral race in New York City.

Bloomberg, a billionaire entrepreneur and media giant who launched a brief, failed run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, approved former government official Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday.

The move took place two weeks before the primary on June 24th, four days before the start of early voting on June 14th, in the country’s most populous city.

“I care deeply about the future of our cities and have been difficult to see the struggle since I left office, especially since the pandemic. There is one candidate whose management experience and government know-how stands above others in expanding the field of competition for the mayor.

In a statement, Bloomberg recognized Cuomo’s past political “differences” during his tenure as New York City mayor and governor.

However, he emphasized that “I also know his strengths as a leader and manager. Of all the candidates, Andrew has the skills our city needs to move us forward.”

Fox News confirmed that Cuomo and Bloomberg met Monday to discuss the mayoral race after the former governor stopped by the Bloomberg Media office in New York City to record a radio segment.

In a statement called Bloomberg New York City’s “Excellent Politicians” he emphasized, “Both of our cities have been rebuilt after New York City was in crisis, after being torn and broken under the guidance of Mike Bloomberg.”

The former three-term governor, who resigned in 2021 amid multiple scandals, is seeking political redemption while he works to stop his campaign comeback.

Cuomo has fought to clear his name after 11 sexual harassment accusations of sexual harassment over the past four years. He was also under investigation to handle the Covid-19 pandemic amid allegations that his administration has kept a modest and modest COVID-related death in state nursing homes.

Last month, the Justice Department launched a criminal investigation into Cuomo after accusing Republicans of lying to Congress about decisions they made as governor during the coronavirus pandemic.

But thanks to his near-resident name recognition among New Yorkers, Cuomo was topped with a mayoral poll, even before he announced his candidacy for March 1.

A lifelong Democrat, Bloomberg ran for mayor in 2001 and was re-elected as a Republican in 2005. He was independent by the time he won his second re-election in 2009. Bloomberg later switched voter registration to Democrats.

Like Cuomo, Bloomberg is not a fan of the Democrats’ left flank, but also a strong supporter of Israel. It may have been a motivating factor in Bloomberg’s support of Cuomo. This is now Cuomo’s second second, with Zoran Mamdani rising in recent polls on the mayor’s main race.

Mamdani, a 33-year-old state legislator from Queens, is a person of colour and a democratic socialist from Uganda.

His main bid was boosted last week after landing approvals from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive champion and New York City’s most well-known leader.

With multiple progressive candidates in the primary race, Ocasio-Cortez’s support for Mamdani was seen as a move to consolidate fractured progressive voters into a single candidate to prevent the more moderate Cuomo from removing power.
