Theft, which escaped with a large amount of gold and valuables, is believed to have caused an explosion while using a blot torch to break into a Glendale jewelry store earlier this week.
Manail Biddlecian, owner of Biddlecian Jewelry, whose family has been running the store for over 40 years, said he knew something was wrong when he arrived Tuesday morning and noticed the lights were on.
Bidrussian says he discovered his shop was being plundered despite his security system with a gate, a sturdy lock, a camera and motion sensor. “They came in from the top, and we need to pay more attention to the outside of the building,” he said.
The video showed that the store’s glass case was completely empty while the desk and safe were being destroyed.

Theft is believed to have caused an explosion while using brooches to slash through a safe containing gold, ammunition and guns. Bidrussian said the bomb squad must come to business to ensure that the bombs are safe after the invasion.
Bidrussian’s wife estimates that the robbery was made with valuables worth around $2 million.
“It’s a deep sadness to share the sad news that Biddlesia’s family jewelry store, rooted in the heart of Glendale for over 45 years, is the target of a devastating, highly organized robbery over early Tuesday’s Memorial Day weekend.”
A similar type of robbery occurred in 5-star jewelry and watch repairs at Simi Valley on Sunday night.
During the robbery, several suspects used tools to cut the roof of an adjacent coffee shop before stealing cash and goods from the jewelry store.
“It was my life, my retirement so it felt bad… They got everything we had,” said Jacob Youssef, who started the business 25 years ago. “I don’t know what to say… I’m 71… I can’t reconstruct what I’ve done in my life.”
Investigators have not confirmed the relationship between the two robbers.
