Debate over Golden State spending practices continues to create a wave nationwide, with one California Republican lawmaker coming into viral as a result.
Rep. Carl Demaio, R-San Diego’s Rep. Carl Demaio was one of one Republican lawmakers who had been removed or moved from committee duties by state lawmakers last week, but Demaio believes in the removal from the Budget Committee, as only two hearings are intentional.
“You may have removed me from the Budget Committee, but you will not discourage California taxpayers from telling the truth because of your wasteful spending and washing up your taxpayer money.
“We’ll expose you, and we’ll allow the public to decide whether it’s something they want to see what they want to happen with their money,” he added.

A spokesman for assembly speaker Robert Rivas’ office told Fox News Digital that he “treates it on a daily basis.”[es] The committee gives needs throughout the year, and his goal is to ensure that members are always in the best position to work together effectively and deliver to Californians. ”
According to the KCRA, Republicans remained in the role of vice-chairman, with some Democrats being kicked out of the committee in the process.
Democrats argue that the actions of some Republicans at the hearing are curated distractions for social media and will defeat the purpose of the meeting.

In recent weeks, DeMaio has been word-of-mouth due to questions to California officials, particularly regarding the state’s budget. He urged a response from state budget officials that revealed $9.5 billion was spent on healthcare for illegal immigrants. That’s higher than the previous $6 billion forecast.
“They were embarrassed. It made national news. People were all over California, so a lot of money would go to illegal immigration just for medical purposes,” DeMaio said.
He also proposed enlisting Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to improve the state’s processes.
According to the California Grove, DeMaio also claims that the “Covid-19 Workplace Outreach” program is being used to support left-leaning groups who do political work outside the scope of its same name.

“In 2025, we’re actually spending $25 million on taxpayers on our Covid-19 workplace education program. Isn’t that 2020? This is totally unnecessary,” he said.
Scrutiny will be in the ongoing debate over Golden State’s overall financial health for upcoming fiscal years, as Gavin Newsom’s Office claims his proposal is well balanced and believes Republicans will run the deficit.
“The budget I present today is built on a framework that balances the book in two years rather than one. This is an unprecedented effort to address the budget shortages we faced. However, there is still work left to ensure that California’s finances remain in good condition in the January statement.

Despite the mix of praise and resentment, DeMaio believes it is important to shine a spotlight on the Golden State.
“The reason all Americans are looking carefully at what’s going on in California is because the bad ideas that come to your state actually get their start in California,” DeMaio said.
“They use California as Petri cuisine for left-wing extremists’ ideas, then export these bad ideas to other states, claiming they are successful here.”
