It’s again morning in the border community in Yuma, Arizona, but there’s still more to do to ensure long-term security and clear out the rest of the challenges.
Yuma County Superintendent Jonathan Rhine described the challenges faced by the occasional influx of immigrants into the community throughout the Biden administration.
The Republican Line, who spoke about the border under former President Joe Biden, said it was “controlled” under President Donald Trump.

In the Umasector alone, hundreds of thousands of immigrants have met during the Biden administration. In February there were 8,326 illegal border crossings marked down by US customs and border protection. The number of people put a strain on local resources in the area, including local hospitals.
“The message is that we want to refund the nonprofit hospitals to an adjustment of about $32 million. That’s an auditable cost. This has caused an undue strain in our community,” Line said.
Fox News Digital reported that in 2023, Yuma Regional Medical Center had to deal with millions of unpaid medical expenses, taking into account the number of illegal immigrants they had come in for care.

Construction will begin filling gaps in the border wall in Yuma, Arizona on August 12, 2022.
“Our food bank was influenced by the whole medical community just for fentanyl,” Rhine said.
“We’ve seen the huge impact of fentanyl here in our community. One of my best friends lost his oldest nephew two weeks ago. The pills are on sale for around $2.50.

In 2022, former Arizona governor Doug Ducey placed metal storage containers along some of the Yuma gaps. Currently, construction of permanent boundary wall panels is underway in the gaps along the region’s borders following the reversal of Biden’s policy after Trump took office.

“As of today, we are beginning new seven miles of construction. We are going to continue to keep America safe again,” said Christa Noem, the Department of Homeland Security’s Department of Homeland Security in a video posted on X on March 16th.
The region has become an important focus for politicians on the 2024 campaign trail, halting many visits despite not running for geographical borders. This is an important indicator that border security and immigration are the best issues for American voters.
