The teenager’s body, which matches the 13-year-old’s description, reported that he reported missing in Oxnard over the weekend, officials said.
Oscar Omar Hernandez’s family reported him missing on March 30 after returning from visiting an acquaintance of Lancaster, a spokesman for the LA Police Department told KTLA.
Detectives from the LAPD Robbery and Residential Department have developed a lead that suggests a densely packed area of interest from Harbor Boulevard in Oxnard.
“We worked with our partners at the FBI to conduct a coordinated search for the region,” LAPD said. “During the search, a body was found that matches the description of the missing teen.”

Authorities stressed that the identity of the deceased teen in Oxnard has not been officially confirmed and that the cause of the incident is under investigation.
Aerial footage of the scene shot by Sky5 showed slow-moving Harbor Boulevard traffic as federal agents and LAPD investigators approached the scene and washed away areas of evidence.
The robbery wet detective is still pursuing a lead in this case.
