Brandon Blackstock, the talent manager and Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, has passed away. He was 48 years old.
“It’s extremely sad to share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the representative told People. “Brandon bravely fought cancer for over three years. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the privacy of your family during this extremely difficult time.”
Blackstock’s death comes hours after Clarkson revealed he was postponing his Las Vegas residency due to Blackstock’s health.
“Unfortunately, we need to postpone the rest of the dates for our August studio session in Las Vegas,” she wrote on Instagram. “I usually keep my personal life private, but for the past year, my child’s father has been ill and must be fully present at this time. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who has purchased tickets for the show.
Blackstock and Clarkson have two children. They have an 11-year-old daughter named River and a 9-year-old son named Remington. He has two other children from a previous relationship, Seth and Savannah.
The couple was first romantically linked in 2012 and married in 2013. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, citing “incompatible differences.” The divorce was finalized in 2022.
Backstock, former son-in-law of Reba McEntire, was Blake Shelton’s manager and became Clarkson after getting married.
Blackstock is survived by his four children and grandchildren. his father, Narbell Blackstock. and three brothers.
