WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump praised “quickly and relentless action” in his speech to Congress and the American people on Tuesday, reorienting the national economy, immigration and foreign policy.
Trump’s joint speech to Congress was the latest marker of Trump’s acquisition of national capital, with the Republican-led House and Senate making little effort to hold back the president to reduce the size of the federal government and remake American locations around the world. Holding his party close, Trump was encouraged after overcoming criminal prosecution between his two administrations to overcome the bluff each in his first term and take drastic action marked by the dismantling of the federal government, tensions with American allies, and tensions that exacerbate economic uncertainty.
“It was nothing but a quick and relentless action,” Trump said of his weeks in office. “People chose me to do the job, and I’m doing it.”

Trump, who has been coordinating efforts to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, said he was working to “recover democracy from this inexplainable bureaucracy” and that if they resisted his agenda, he was newly threatened with fire.

Green told Trump “it’s worth letting people know that there are people to stand up,” Green told reporters after being thrown out of the room.
Trump used his speech to address his proposal to foster peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. On Monday, Trump ordered a freeze on US military aid to Ukraine, ending America’s solid support for the country in dodging Russian invasions.
Trump was tightening the screws after an explosive oval office meeting with Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky on Friday as US leaders attempted to pressure former American allies to accept a peace meeting with invaders.
Many democratic lawmakers wore blue and yellow ties and scarves at a show in support for Ukraine.
Rep. Lloyd Doggett of D-Texas, who wore a blue and yellow tie on Tuesday, accused Trump and Vice President JD Vance of “bullying politicians on behalf of thugs last week.”
In the Middle East, negotiations to expand the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have stagnated, and Trump is setting the ground up of permanent evacuation of Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the US “buying” of the territory, straining partnerships with regional countries and unleashing support from two states.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump have joined the car to Capitol by Elon Musk, the billionaire presidential adviser who coordinates Trump’s efforts to reduce the size and scope of the federal government. Musk was sitting in a house gallery overlooking the place Trump spoke.
The entire scene of Trump’s speech was a stark contrast to his final Union speech in his first term. Five years ago, Trump gave his annual speech shortly after the Senate acquitted him at his first blast-each trial.
When he was finished, Democrat Nancy Pelosi drastically tore a copy of Trump’s speech.
Trump’s speech on Tuesday was not called a union state as he is still the first year of his new term, but it is received very differently, Johnson said.
“We won’t tear our speech tonight,” the Republican said.
Trump said he ended a “weaponized government” that Democrats exercised against him, referring to his legal issues over the years, claiming that they were political persecution, and that they acted to him.
The president also used his famous moment to impose efforts on restructuring the country’s approach to social issues.
Trump said he pushed for similar moves in the private sector and ended the “tyranny” of diversity, equity and inclusion policies that he rolled back for the federal government and military. “Our country will not wake up any more,” he declared.
Watching from the gallery with First Lady was guests including Ellistonbury, 15, of Aredo, Texas.
Other White House guests included Stephanie Diller, widow of New York Police Department officer Jonathan Diller. Pennsylvania teacher Mark Vogel and his 95-year-old mother, Malfin, returned home last month after years of detention in Russia. and relatives of former Pennsylvania Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, who was killed last summer when he protected his family in an attempted assassination in Trump.
Trump was also expected to recognize additional guests in the room.
Democrat guests also include at least one government watchdog fired by Trump to place loyalists beyond their influential positions.
Republican lawmakers are also trying to claim that they are invited guests.
Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst hosted Scott Root, the father of the late Sarah Root, who died in a vehicle accident involving immigrants in a country without legal authority on the night of his college graduation in 2016.
Outside of Washington, the latest public protests against Trump and his administration also unfolded Tuesday. The roughly coordinated group held demonstrations in parks, state houses and public places as protesters gathered in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
They accused his presidency of being dangerous and non-American, but they cited various actions they wanted to fight back, including government cuts, Trump’s tariffs and his stance on Ukraine.
