Overnight brush fires in the Rebec area stoke evacuation warnings after burning more than 100 acres, narrating traffic at Grapevine on Thursday morning.
The incident was first reported on the south side of five highways near Fort Taejong Road, just before 11:30pm on Wednesday.
By 4am, the flame had burned 133 acres, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
At least one lane was closed to southbound traffic through Grapevine due to flames. Video shows the car line that backed up the area at 4:30am

“If this is part of a planned commute, expect delays. Give plenty of room for the emergency crew, thank you!” California Highway Patrol posted on X
An evacuation warning has been issued for the area of Digier Canyon in Lebec. Residents were urged to be prepared in case they were asked to leave. “The situation can change very quickly, reducing visibility in the area and blocking roads,” reads a message on ReadyKern’s website.
Firefighters said the flames are included in 5% and helicopters are on the way to assist the firefighters.
There was no first word on what caused the fire.
