Hip hop star Busta Raimus is expected to be respected in major ways this week.
The hip-hop star wins the 2,818th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will add one of hip-hop’s most enduring and moving voices, Basta Raimus, as a new member of Hollywood’s iconic sidewalk,” explained Anna Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “His talent and influence cannot be denied. His star on the Walk of Fame will stand as evidence of his lasting impact on hip-hop music and how important it is to American culture.”
He is known for hits like “Place your hand where I can see my eyes”, “Break Ya Neck” and “Touch It.” The Brooklyn native entered the scene in 1996 with his debut album, The Coming. Since then, he has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, earning 12 Grammy Award nominations and seven top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200.
He holds the Guinness World Record in most words with his hit single for his song “Break Ya Neck.”
Busta, a Trevor George Smith Jr., is passionate about giving back. He is the global citizen ambassador, ambassador at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the first music-careless hip-hop ambassador for the “Hip-Hop Human” initiative.
The ceremony will take place on August 1st in the 6200 block of Hollywood Boulevard in front of East Town.
Chris Rock, LL Cool J and Chuck D are expected to speak at the ceremony.
