Last weekend, a California wine country driver announced that he had an open container of alcohol in a cup holder and 70 empty cans in the vehicle.
The unidentified driver grabbed the attention of police while struggling to stay in the lanes of Kotati, the Sonoma County town of Cotati, about 45 miles north of San Francisco.
“Drivers were determined to be more than three times the legal limits during the field drinking test. [at] .25% blood alcohol content,” police said.
The man was arrested for suspected DUI and driving with a suspended license.

“When the driver was arrested, a search inside his car was completed, with over 70 empty beer cans placed there.”
Two brothers reported deaths from a California highway were overlooked.
Authorities continued to remind people that drinking and driving is not worth the risk.
In 2020, most recent data released by the California Department of Motor Vehicles found that nearly 32% of all fatal crashes were related to alcohol.
“If the officers didn’t stop the driver, the outcome could have been even worse,” Kotati Officer said.
