California Governor Gavin Newsom challenged Vice President JD Vance to face off in the debate.
“Hey @jdvance – I’m glad you finally put it out in California. You want to talk about me, so why not say it in my face? Let’s argue. Time and place?” the Democratic governor said in a post on his @gavinnewsom x account on Friday.
So far, the Vice President has not answered Newsom’s challenges on social media platforms.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Vance press team on Saturday, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
The Vice President ranbust Golden State Governor and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as he made his remarks in Los Angeles on Friday.
Vance said the governor “puts law enforcement at risk.”
Newsom Communications director Izzy Gardon called Vance a “liar” in an email to Fox News Digital on Saturday.
“Jose Vance is a liar. The Vice President’s claims are decisively false. There is no evidence to support his fabrication claims. And we challenge him to some kind of production. The governor has consistently condemned his stance on law enforcement officials over and over again.
One of the posts stated, “Los Angeles: Don’t take Trump’s bait. Trump wants chaos and incites violence. Anyone who assaults law enforcement or causes damage to property puts arrests at risk. Stay in peace. Stay focused. Don’t give him the excuse he’s looking for.”
Gardon’s reference to “Jose Vance” appears to be a play in Vance’s comments about “Jose Padilla” on Friday.

“He knows my name,” Padilla said in a statement on MSNBC on Saturday, calling Vance’s jab an indicator, “a indicator of how light and unsafe this administration is.
