Exclusive: Top Republicans in California Senate praised the Trump administration for intervening to reboot Golden State’s “Oil Goldmine” off the coast after Sen. Adam Schiff’s prominent opposition to a project that shut down since the major pipe failed in 2015.

“Although California sits in Oil Goldmine, Democrat politicians continue to block responsible production at home,” San Diego Sen. Brian Jones told Fox News Digital.

“Instead, they choose to import oil from foreign countries with weak labor protections and low environmental standards.”

As Fox News Digital reported exclusively, the Ministry of Home Affairs recently blocked the reopening of Santay Nez forces in Pacific oil-producing regions, bringing an estimated 109 million barrels of recoverable oil potential online.

Schiff, along with D-Calif MP Salud Carbajal, previously opposed revisiting the project, citing concerns stemming from Refugio’s oil spill a decade ago.

“[W]Sif and Carvajal wrote to Governor Gavin Newsmom earlier this year.

“As we all know, fossil fuel-driven climate change has had a serious impact on California, setting the stage for an unprecedented disaster like the one we just experienced in Los Angeles,” they said.

Jones said it was a past time when energy reserves reopened in the state, which was once the hub of top companies in the industry.

Chevron recently moved most of its operations from San Ramon, a suburb of Oakland, to Texas.

Valero, who rose just a few miles of I-680 from his previous Chevron base, has announced the closure or rebuild of a large refinery that can produce 145,000 barrels of oil per day. Valero will complete the plan by April 2026.

Jones said California must put both the workforce and the environment first, reflecting other top Republicans who want to work or do business.

California’s gas tax remains the highest in the country, with Illinois and Pennsylvania nearby.

Newsom says it is focused on fixing market issues to make gasoline more affordable and ensure reliable access to fuel.

In a recent letter to the California Energy Commission, Newsom noted global energy uncertainty, saying his administration has “made great progress in dealing with spikes and irregularities.”

He also criticized President Donald Trump’s administration for “adding more uncertainty and instability to the global economy than ever before, as the oil industry is at the forefront of this market turmoil.”

“For years, refineries have restructured, migrated, consolidated and closed the nation,” he said in what he described as a shift towards “a goal of dismemberment and sustainability,” referring to the January closure of the Lyon del Beisel refinery in Houston.

James Gallagher, the California Congress’ minority leader in Yuba City, a second Republican in Golden State, rejected the allegation.

“He’s not solving the problem. He’s the problem,” Gallagher said in a recent statement, adding that the governor is trying to make him look like a “onstander involved” in the situation.
