A new poll shows that 90% of Californians believe that US democracy is being tested if they are not fully attacked.
A UC Berkeley Government Institute poll found in a vote released Thursday that voted for voters near California, with nearly two-thirds of them agreeing that “American democracy is under attack.”
“A further 26% explain that it is being ‘tested’, but it’s not under attack,” IGS said. “Only one in ten California voters believe our democracy is “no danger.” ”
And these concerns aren’t from a single party, the Los Angeles Times explains them in detail.
“They are shared regardless of income, education level, race or ethnicity,” the Times explained. “Californians, young and old, who live in large cities and rural areas, expressed similar uncertainty.”
Eric Sickler, co-director of the Institute of Government, said the polls show “deep concerns that many California voters have about the state of democracy in America.”
“It’s not years ago, but it’s hard to imagine the majority of voters seeing our democracy under a serious threat,” Sickler said. “It’s like a new “normal” now. In itself, it is a worrisome sign of how things have changed. ”
