A fire broke out in Fontana on Thanksgiving night, prompting evacuation orders for some Riverside County residents as the wildfire continues to spread, officials said.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department first reported the Canyon Crest Fire on the X-Post at 5:31 p.m. Thursday, with a 100-by-100 fire traveling uphill in the area of Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane. He said crews were on the scene of the ignition fire in Ft. In Fontana.
Officials raised the fire from second to third alert in a follow-up X-post at 6:21 p.m., saying the fire had grown to 10 acres at a moderate rate. This is the only area reported as of 8 p.m.
At 7:28 p.m., fire officials issued an evacuation warning for the area north of Highway 60, east of Country Village Road, south of the Riverside-San Bernardino county line and west of Sierra Avenue in Riverside County X-ray. was issued.
