Lorena told detectives that Rebecca told Yolanda a week ago that she was ending the marriage, the warrant told her. A home security video provided by detectives reviewed by Yolanda on February 18th revealed that Rebecca was seen running from a woman believed to be Yolanda, the warrant said.
“Yolanda! Please…! I don’t want to die!” Rebecca cried out, according to the warrant. Yolanda also had blood on her arm.
“We should have thought of that before,” Yolanda replied, standing while holding a knife over Rebecca, according to the warrant. Yolanda tells Rebecca to enter the house, but Rebecca repeatedly tells him to call 911.
About ten minutes later, Yolanda was captured by a security camera collecting her pets and luggage and loading them into a Chevrolet equinox SUV. Yolanda drove the car and her vehicle was recorded by the Department of Homeland Security entering Mexico.
According to the warrant, a fellow detective who was contacted by Yolanda on February 20th, showed a message from Yolanda on the day of Rebecca’s murder, saying, “Becky will go home and she will leave me.” Oh, she met someone else, the message was a lie. We had a big fight and I hurt her… sorry.”
Rebecca and Yolanda Malodi have been married for over two years, and according to public records, they also shared the same address.
Yolanda Malodi had a past criminal history.
Yolanda Malody was sentenced to 11 years in 2004 after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of her then-husband James Olezizak, according to court records. She spent time in prison from 2004 to 2013.
