The annual fishing derby at Big Bear Lake next month could attract thousands of cash for some lucky fishermen.
Fishin’s annual $50,000 trout derby takes place over the weekend of June 7th, with anglers having the opportunity to get caught up in thousands of dollars thanks to visiting Big Bear.

Five trout swimming at Big Bear Lake have been tagged and marked as $10,000 Grand Prize winners. During the derby, anglers reeling one will receive a prize.
More fish prizes are paid lower, and additional prizes will be awarded to anglers caught in the largest trout.
This is the 27th time Masderby has been held at Big Bear Lake. Last year, two rainbow trout with a $10,000 tag was brought in by two lacquer fishermen.
We visited Big Bear CEO Travis Scott to bring the event to the great opportunity to “take Big Bucks.”
“Our hope is that all five of the tagged trout have been caught this year,” Scott said. “All you need is fishing gear and bait, a lot of patience and, of course, a little luck.”
The annual event attracts 700 anglers each year, organizers said. It was expected to sell out this year. Tickets start at $80 for adults and start at $30 for children who receive some discounts from various promotions.
The awards ceremony will eventually take place on Sunday, June 8th at the Marina Riviera Hotel on Lake Big Bear. The event will also feature raffles to get thousands of dollars worth of fishing gear.

Big Bear Lake is one of several of our lakes to consider at the best lakes in the country at USA Today’s 10 Best Leaders Choi Travel Awards. In 2024, it was named the sixth best in the United States and was named the seventh best lake in water sports.
The latest vote for this year’s awards will close on June 2nd, officials said.
