Smith’s comments come as many Chicagoans are outraged by “sanctuary city” policies that are drawing thousands of immigrants to a city already plagued by one of the highest violent crime rates in the United States. It was issued.

“Here we are in Chicago. [are] “We were supposed to be celebrating a season of joy, love, and happiness,” Smith continued, “and in Chicago, a lot of people have Christmas trees and put Christmas trees under their trees. Mr Johnson said: “Our values remain strong and steadfast. The next four years will likely bring challenges to our work, but we will not be stopped and we will not look back.”

Homan, meanwhile, spoke in Chicago last week, telling local Republicans that he wants Illinois Democrats to “have a seat at the table,” but if they don’t, “I want them to stand back for good.”

The comment prompted a fierce reaction from Democratic Rep. Delia Ramirez.

“Tom Homan, next time you come to #IL03, a district made even stronger by immigration, you should be prepared to meet resistance,” she warned.

Ramirez’s comments have led to a growing number of Democratic leaders across the country expressing opposition to or refusal to cooperate with President Trump’s mass deportation plan.
