A senior Chinese government official is asking what the Trump administration wants to do to communist states about the chemicals used to make fentanyl amid the ongoing trade war between the two largest economies of the world.
China’s public security minister Wang Xiaohong has been inquiring with China over the past few days about what Trump wants to do about the fentanyl issue, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
Chinese companies produce precursors, large quantities of chemicals, and eventually flow into Mexican drug cartels, making fentanyl and smuggling them into the US.

Beijing probably met with the king with the senior officials of the Trump administration in the neutral country, the newspaper reported.

“China has failed to take any meaningful steps to block known illegal drug producers from the flow of precursor chemicals,” the White House told Fox News Digital. “Most governments can do so through regulation and enforcement. This is especially true in authoritarian countries like China.”
Once in office, Trump will impose a 20% tariff on China on its role in the US fentanyl epidemic, killing tens of thousands of Americans each year.

Since then, Trump has increased China’s tariffs to 145%, while Beijing is retaliating with a 125% tariff on American goods.
