Four people were killed and two more injured in the night on Norwalk’s 605 Freeway.
Preliminary information about the incident was initially lacking, and initially it was believed that the vehicle was involved in one collision. However, a later update from the California Highway Patrol showed that two separate collisions occurred.
The CHP incident log showed that it took place around 1am on Sunday.
Authorities confirmed with KTLA that one of the vehicles involved, Nissan, is driving over a southbound span.
Nissan, carrying four residents, became disabled in the lanes of the highway.
Shortly afterwards, Kia, among them, collided with the disabled Nissan. The four in the latter car were killed, although the shock was plunged into flames.

Information surrounding their identity was not immediately available.
According to the CHP’s 7am update, the female KIA driver is believed to be disabled and her passengers were taken to a hospital where she was seriously injured.
Authorities confirmed that the CHP official, whose car was cut off, was not injured. It was not immediately clear whether the CHP cruiser and disabled Nissan were still on the road or whether they moved to the side of the road when the second incident occurred.

Authorities lamented from the horrifying scene that if a better choice was made, the entire situation could have been avoided.
“This was completely preventable due to the fact that one of the drivers was driving under the influence,” said CHP executive Zachary Salazar. “Our minds are directed at families involved in the victim’s perspective… Our officers will investigate this by putting their full potential.”
A social media post on CHP’s Santa Fe Springs Station said the 605 southbound stretch that affected was closed due to “major crashes” until further notice.
Drivers are advised to look for alternative routes.
