Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie are donating $15 million to an initial emergency fund for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
Ballmer Group announced the donation on its website Thursday, saying it will help address immediate food and shelter needs in the community and support first responders.
“We love Los Angeles and are committed to supporting communities affected by the devastating wildfires,” the couple said, adding that the donation is “particularly historic and racially diverse.” It will benefit the Altadena community, he added.
The Ballmer Group is also a supporter of FireAid, a concert scheduled for January 30th at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum, also owned by Ballmer.
“We understand that the Los Angeles region has a long road to recovery and remain committed to supporting our community,” the couple said.
Their donations will support four wildfire relief funds, two emergency shelter and housing funds, two food and basic needs groups, two first responder groups, and the basic needs of students and families. It is dedicated to nine groups to support.
