First on Fox: The House Oversight Committee is investigating riots in dealing with officials in Los Angeles and California, and Fox News Digital is the first to learn.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Kommer, R-KY. , and chair of the Law Enforcement Subcommittee, Rep. Clay Higgins, wrote a letter Friday to California Gov. Gavin Newsmom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (DOJ).
“The Los Angeles mob committed malicious acts of violence and fear directed at law enforcement and others. They set fire to vehicles and property around town and attacked officers with deadly weapons such as rocks and Molotov cocktails.”
“Attacks on law enforcement officials condemn the orders legally and those responsible must deal with the seriousness of their actions.”

Comer wrote a similar letter to Newsom and Bass, accusing him of “protesting President Trump’s actions to suppress the violence caused by the Los Angeles mob, and even resorting to falsely condemning the actions of the violent riot.”
“You are supporting California’s sanctuary policies, which hinder the cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. You have also made it clear that you intend to block the federal government’s purpose and defend foreigners regardless of immigration status, criminal activity, anti-American views, or agitating against riots.”
GOP investigators are calling for communications between Bass and Newsom regarding the protest, as well as communications with state, local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Comer also requires staff-level briefings on demonstrations.
In Los Angeles, a day of riots exploded in Los Angeles after more than 100 illegal immigrants were arrested last weekend.
President Donald Trump sent the National Guard to Los Angeles over Newsom’s objection. Democrats accused Trump of escalating the situation unnecessary, but the president’s GOP allies argued that it was a necessary step to quell the violence.
Comer denounced the escalation of the mob, saying that law enforcement “has been forced to fire pepper spray to disperse the crowd and arrested dozens of people.”
A federal judge ruled Thursday that Trump must return control of the California State Guard to the newspaper, but the appeals court quickly overturned the decision.

The demonstrations in Los Angeles are serious, but not isolated. Activists across the country were born to protest the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
