Republican lawmakers came out in large numbers Monday evening to congratulate the president on Monday evening following news that Iran and Israel had reached a ceasefire within two days of striking the Muslim country’s nuclear enrichment scene.

Meanwhile, Democrats seem to be holding back the celebration, at least at first.

“Congratulations to everyone. There is a complete agreement between Israel and Iran, and there is a complete and complete ceasefire (Israel and Iran completed the final mission after about six hours ongoing!) for 12 hours, the war is considered and finished!” President Donald Trump said on True Social Monday evening.

Following Trump’s announcement, which was later verified with Iranian officials, Republicans quickly took social media and airwaves to congratulate the president, with many praise for his ability to negotiate.

“[Trump] He is the largest foreign policy leader in American history. I present him the Nobel Peace Prize. Now, “Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles wrote to X. “Strength through peace!”, shouted on the platform.

“President Trump just did something other presidents can’t do. The Americans and the world who elected Donald J. Trump are safer. Cerez-fire!” South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace has also added X.

“It’s huge that this sticks together. I don’t know why I don’t,” R-Ind said. MP Merlin Statzman told Fox News. “If you see and hear what Iran can do with B-2 bombers and bunkerbusters, not only send a message to them, but also send a message to most of the world, this president wants to negotiate with you, he wants to find a way to do this, but if you don’t negotiate, there will be a consequence.”

“I think the president really hit the reset button and said, ‘Look, let’s actually create long-term peace in the region.’ Vice President JD Vance said in a Fox News “special report” with Brett Baier. “In fact, I think the 12-day war was a significant reset for the entire region.”

Meanwhile, Democrats seem to be holding back the celebration. Fox News digital analysis of the Democratic Congressional Leadership account on X shows no congratulatory messages Monday evening.

However, Fox News was able to catch up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of Dn.Y. and asked her about her take. However, the lawmakers’ response was not a congratulations.

“He also said it was a war,” Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News when asked about the ceasefire. “I think the US President is acknowledging that he unilaterally led the US to war without Congressional approval. It’s a very serious public approval. It’s illegal. And while the president posts about the ceasefire, I think it should take a very serious consideration.

Rep. Thomas Massey has pushed Democrats to pass the resolution ahead of this weekend’s attack, which saw Trump seek Congressional approval before attacking Iran, but said he would not move any further steps forward for the ceasefire.

“I just spoke to the speaker on the floor and said that if a ceasefire was pressing it, I wouldn’t push it, so it’s really in their court,” Massey said. Massie added, “Wait and see” before making a final decision.
