The 2025 Congressional Art Competition for High School Students began nationwide on Tuesday.

Every spring, Congress gathers art from hundreds of thousands of high school students across the country.
The winning pieces will then appear in the Capitol. The winners with their families will be invited to attend a special ceremony in DC
The second-ranked winner will showcase his artwork at the lawmaker’s Washington, DC office and showcase the third-ranked winner from his local district office.
One student’s artwork is selected from each council district.
“This contest recognizes the enormous artistic talent of young students and the diversity of art forms that exist. It also highlights the unique contributions of each council district through the brilliant and diverse work of youth across the country. I can’t wait to see what our talented young artists have come up with,” said Rep. Laura Friedman, CA-30.
The submitted pieces must be 2D and be 26 inches tall, 26 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
The accepted media are:
Painting – Including oil, acrylic, watercolor painting – Pastel, colored pencils, pencils, charcoal, ink, markers, etc. (It is recommended to fix charcoal and pastel paintings.) Collage – It must be a 2D printed material, such as lithographs, silkscreens, etc., blocking 2D prints, etc. Computer-generated art photos
Students can submit their work online to the representative’s office. Submissions are limited to one person per person.
Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
