Construction along Long Beach streets began Thursday afternoon, with the city preparing to celebrate the 50-year race in April.

More than 2,400 concrete blocks line up the road that will become an 11-turn circuit, nearly two miles, according to race officials.
The city’s leadership will be unveiled Thursday afternoon and celebrate the construction, including Long Beach’s president and CEO Grand Prix Association.
“The Grand Prix is always an exciting event in Long Beach,” Richardson said. “There’s something magical about cars and moving fast, and kids get excited. It’s a family-friendly event, and all the families get off and check it out, and the beautiful city of Long Beach I encourage you to make memories with it.”
Grand Prix Director Dwight Tanaka has spent more than 33,000 hours working workers, with about 24 million pounds of concrete blocks, four miles of fencing, 17,000 bolted tires, 14 grandstands, seven pedestrian bridges and nine They estimate that they will use two huge visions to build the truck. All businesses along the race circuit are not affected by construction.
Long Beach has been home to the Racing Series for decades, including Formula 5000, Formula 1 and IndyCar.
Approximately 194,000 fans participated in the race in 2024. The race marks the best attendance of the event since the 2008 IndyCar “Reunification.”
The Grand Prix will be held from April 11th to April 13th.
