(Nexstar) – There are some major changes to the grocery store newsstand. Soon, magazines like Touch In Weekly, Life & Style, Closer Weekly, and First for First World are no longer there. The celebrity news and lifestyle outlet aimed at female readers will release the final issue in June, the company told the Hollywood Reporter.
The magazine’s owner, McClatchy Media Company, first defeated the news to THR after staff were informed of the imminent layoffs. Nexstar also contacted McClatchy for comments.

“Despite the best efforts of many of our talented colleagues, we were unable to develop four profitable business models of the magazine’s title. First, we will publish the final version for women from June 20th to 27th.”
Of the four publications, the first is set to halt operations for women. The magazine has been published since 1989, and as of 2025, it had a total audience of around 2.5 million for each data in 2024. The average age of readers is 54.
Meanwhile, Touch In Touch Weekly and Life & Style were released in 2002 and 2004, respectively, while Closer (the American version of the UK tabloid of the same name) has been released since 2013.

Needless to say, several factors have made print media a tail spin for at least 10 years, including production costs, distribution costs and competition with other digital media.
Late last year, McClatchy merged with Accelerate360, a distribution, logistics and media company, although still in its name. The company acquired US Weekly, which remains in production through the merger. Other McClatchy magazines include Woman’s World and Drew Barrymore’s Drew Magazine.
