At first glance, police say his uniform and his motorcycle had all the traps of local law enforcement.
The motorcycle had emergency lighting, with “traffic” and “public safety” on the side, the photos show. His uniforms are said to have included tactical vests, pepper spray, badges and guns.
But in reality, Hemet police say the man was a convicted felon who pretended to be a local law enforcement agency.
Hemet police said they pulled a motorcyclist who was found to be a convicted felon allegedly impersonating a police officer, according to a Facebook post on Tuesday. He also appeared to have a Glock-style handgun on his duties belt.
The man identified as the 73-year-old Goodnight ex-s, said he was armed with two stun guns, an expandable baton, handcuffs and pepper spray. Goodnight wore a tactical vest with badges, olive slacks and a beige shirt.
Police say good night Monday after seeing him commit multiple vehicle code violations and enable emergency lighting on motorcycles.
Goodnight was taken into custody and Hemet police determined his stun gun was in working condition. According to police, Goodnight is a convicted felon who is not legally permitted to firearms or related weapons. He also does not have a license to provide security in California.
Police arrested and booked goodnights on a number of misdemeanors. He is suspected of being a felon in possession of a stun gun. Owner of baton; be a felon in possession of a tear gas weapon. And impersonate a peace officer.
