A U.S. Immigration and Customs Force (ICE) attack is taking place in Orange County, officials confirmed Monday.
“We know about the ongoing immigration enforcement efforts in the Santa Ana Civic Center area,” the Santa Ana Unified School District announced on X-Post Monday evening. “We do not tolerate behavior that disrupts our community or separates our families.”
Santa Ana Police Department and city officials also posted a joint statement on Instagram, acknowledging the ice activity, saying they know that the news will cause “fear and uncertainty” to community members.
A police department spokesperson told KTLA that he was aware of ice activity in his city due to “social media posts.” SAPD, like most other police departments in Southern California, has recovered its lack of participation in immigration enforcement efforts.
The specificity of these ice activities has not been revealed by federal or law enforcement officials, but Rep. Lou Correa said he received reports of an Orange County individual being arrested for “not just standing outside and being profiled.”
On landing in Washington, D.C. on Monday, Rep. Correa issued a statement regarding the attack, saying, “It’s unacceptable and shocking that this is happening in my hometown of Santa Ana.”
“It appears that agents are picking up hardworking and law-abiding taxpayers. Why?” Read Rep. Correa’s press release. This shared that lawmakers will soon return to OC
“Everything was good and boring in Santa Ana yesterday. Everyone went to church and then to the grocery store. Today’s ice raids our neighborhood and makes us confused.
Correa also urged those who resist “unjust, illegal activities” to do so peacefully, referring to the lessons taught by Gandhi and the MLK.

“You don’t step into the tanks or M16s and do it in a smart, legal, safe way. Our future depends on a strategic and effective response. It protects the children, the future and their rights.”
Lawmakers concluded the statement by asking the federal government to use restraint and “common sense” to follow the constitution and provide a legitimate process for everyone.
At a Monday evening press conference with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, she shared these values and said, “Stop the attack and empower the governor.”

The city of Santa Ana also said, “If you or someone you know have questions or concerns, contact your local council office and contact the Your Rights webpage at www.santa-ana.org/kyr/kyr for resources and information.” Councilman Correa also encouraged anyone with questions about legal rights to reach out to his office.
