The couple was surprised at their lives when they gave birth to a baby girl in the car park of a gas station in Ontario.
Sergio and Ashley Soto welcomed baby Leia at the mobile gas station on Euclidean Avenue early on Wednesday while heading to the hospital. The dramatic stream took place after 2am, when Ashley felt a serious contraction.
“Around 2am, she woke me up and ‘The baby’s coming, we have to go,” Sergio said. “She said, ‘I think we can go to St. Jude in Fullerton.” Unfortunately, we went down 60 and just before Euclidean, we decided that the baby was ready to come out. ”
At that time, Sergio was drawn into a relatively empty gas station car park and was prone to becoming a wife soon.
“I turned around and parked and saw the baby come out, so I drove off, ran around and gave birth to the baby,” he said. “(Ashley) was just pushing the trooper.”
“It felt like I was about to faint at that moment,” Ashley admitted with a laugh.
According to the couple, they had been to two hospitals the day before since Ashley was first expanded by 4 centimeters. However, she said she wasn’t expanding enough, so she was turned away from both.
“When you think you have a plan, and that plan just doesn’t go through, is it the exact opposite?” Ashley said. “So we didn’t expect (this).”
Ashley said it only took about four pushes before the baby came out. Meanwhile, Sergio quickly jumped into the action, allowing the first responder to arrive.
“When I went round the passenger side, the baby was still in the bag, so I opened it a little quickly,” he said. “I had something like her upside down. I started cleaning her path and then I talked to her and tried to calm both of them.”
Thankfully, the delivery was safe and both Ashley and Leia were fine. The mother and baby are taken to hospital for evaluation, and are discharged this week, with parents and new baby returning to Ashley and Sergio’s 14-month-old son.
The couple said the delivery shock has settled down, they look forward to being a family of four.
