Firefighters announced a large crane truck fire on Ventura’s 101 highway Wednesday morning.
According to a media release from the department, the Ventura County Fire Department Communications Center has received multiple calls regarding the southbound span of the 101 southbound exit near the intersection of Lemon Groves.
“The Ventura Fire Station unit arrived at the scene within four minutes and found a crane truck with a major fire in the engine compartment area,” the media release reads. “The driver was allowed to get out of the uninjured vehicle and it was determined that there were no other people on the crane.”

While the flames were extinguishing, authorities had to close the southbound span for a “short period” so that firefighters could safely work. Several fire engines were dispatched to ensure sufficient water was available to keep the fire under control.

Following the release of the fire department, the flames were controlled within 20 minutes and were fully released at 50.
No injuries have been reported to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the flames was unknown.
