Rep. Jasmine Crockett of D-Texas is rooting for Texas lawmakers who fled the state in 2026 to delay votes on a new Congressional map that would give Republicans a huge advantage.
Crockett opposed Republican efforts and their supporters. President Donald Trump called supporters “a ridiculous tyrant” in a five-minute message on his Instagram page on Sunday night.
“My colleague, my former colleague at the Capitol, said, ‘deuces! So I’m really excited.
“This ridiculous tyrant understands he is trying to do everything he can to break our democracy. But there are defensives of democracy who believe in absolutely standing up for the people. They understand the mission.”
As the house probe gets hot, he says “I never worried” about Biden’s mental state before.

Crockett himself faced the national stage when he was part of a group of Democrats at the Texas Capitol, who left the state to delay voting for the 2021 GOP-backed election bill.
Democrats are now accusing Gov. Greg Abbott and a Texas Republican lawmaker of pursuing Trump’s march orders before they acted to help those affected by the deadly floods tackled by the lonely star nation last month.
“More than 130 Texans were killed in the July 4 flood. Republicans responded with zero flood relief bills, and they responded to a medium-term rezoning system to help Trump stick to power. It’s not governing. It’s exploitation.
Abbott accused Democrats of maintaining flood relief by paralyzing their state homes in their absence and suggested they should lose their elected role.

“Our fellow Texans are disappointed and have not been able to get the flood relief they need because these Democrats have escaped responsibility,” Abbott told Fox News Monday afternoon. “And I believe they confiscated their seat in the state legislature because they are not doing the work they have been elected.”
Crockett said on Instagram that she was “excited” with Democrats fleeing to Chicago and New York City.
“They understand the challenges. They understand who they are making vows to. They understand that they don’t serve him. We don’t serve him. He’s not ours. He’s not ours. He’s not ours. He’s not that,” Crockett said of Trump.
“Hopefully this will be the energy that more Democrats need to see, and unfortunately, he is trampling on our rights in a major way.”
Crockett also called Trump “orangutan” and “Temu Hitler” later in the video.

Republicans now manage 25 of Texas’ 38 seats in the House of Representatives. Trump himself won 27 in the 2024 election, but is a House Democrat. Henry Culler and Vicente Gonzalez kept their seats there.
Under the new proposed line, Trump won at least 10% in 30 districts, according to the Texas Tribune.
Crockett, who represents parts of the Dallas area, himself will see her home being drawn from the current district line.
