Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Eric Adams were targeting each other in separate interviews as they each try to position themselves as the right choice for those who don’t want their left enemy, Zoran Mamdani, to become the city’s next mayor.
At a Saturday breakfast event in Hampton, hosted by businessman and conservative radio host John Cassimatidis, Cuomo took a shot of New York City veiled by Adams by claiming that there hadn’t been a “competent” mayor since Michael Bloomberg resigned in 2013, the New York Post reported.
Cuomo, who runs as an independence against Democratic candidate Mamdani and Republican Curtis Swawa, like Adams, added that the city is now “feeling out of control.”
Meanwhile, Adams was not shy about criticizing Cuomo while litigating his own lawsuit as a modest and conservative choice that didn’t want democratic socialist mumdani.

“Andrew Cuomo is running away from his record. Bail reform. I had to fix it. Cannabis law. I had to fix it. I got older [which ended automatically prosecuting 16- and 17-year-olds as adults]. I had to fix it,” Adams said in an interview with the Post on Thursday.
“You look at my record and compare it to his record. I had to fix his confusion. He created confusion for our city and I had to fix it,” the mayor added.
The failure of Mamdani to return these positions could trigger a calculation in the Democrats: “Five Alarm Warnings”

Both men also took quite a few shots on the mum ticks.
Cuomo warned Fox News Digital that if Mamdani was elected, his campaign claimed that the comments were joking and that audio from the event made attendees laugh at the statement, but his campaign warned Fox News Digital that he would “move to Florida.”
“It was a joke, and the people in the room understood it and laughed. Governor Cuomo never gave up on New York. It highlighted the stakes in the upcoming elections and the risk that the campaign would select dangerous, inexperienced hatred, made up of unrealistic bumper sticker slogans.

“Please take a look [Mandani’s] Policy: Emptying Riker’s Island will have a huge impact,” Adams told the New York Post, referring to Mamdani’s plan to reduce the prison population.
Former police officer Adams continued to criticize Mamdani’s plan to let social workers respond to calls for domestic violence rather than police.
Adams referenced NYPD executive Wilbert Mora, 27, and his partner Jason Rivera, 22.
“Mora and Rivera, my first two policemen shot [mayoral] Career, they died and were assassinated in response to a call for domestic violence,” Adams said.
Fox News Digital contacted the Adams and Mamdani campaign for comments, but did not respond immediately.

Mamdani secured the Democratic nomination last month, leaving voters not on the far left to select two Democrat-turned-independents at Adams, Cuomo and Republican Swawa.
