DA does not support responsiveness to the Menendez brothers

The Los Angeles County district attorney says he doesn’t support the responsiveness of Lyle and Eric Menendez, claiming that his brothers repeatedly lied about why they killed their parents at their Beverly Hills home in 1989.

District Attorney Nathan Hochmann provided an update on the infamous murder case on Monday, dealing with one of three “parallel tracks” that could potentially be released from prison, where they serve the conditions of life.

Gov. Gavin Newsom recently oversaw a California parole board hearing and assessed whether Lyle and Erik, now 57 and 54, would pose a risk to public safety if released from prison. The DA’s office is informally requesting that the court reject a habeas-protection petition. Ensureding is the third means of freedom.

Hochman previously said he was opposed to a new trial for his brother, who is serving life sentences for the murders of his parents Jose and Kitty at his Beverly Hills home in 1989.

However, at a press conference Monday, Hochmann indicated he was in favor of responsive and giving his brother a hearing only after his predecessor’s motion was withdrawn.

In October, then-distrix lawyer George Gascon recommended that the brothers breathe 50 years of life.

“The basis for that request is that the previous allegations did not consider or consider whether the Menendez brothers offered full insight and were fully lied about their claims in self-defense for the past 30 years,” Hochman continued.

Hochmann pointed out that Kitty Menendez was shot in the face in the stairway while Jose Menendez suffered from a shotgun explosion behind his head. Both were staged to look like “Mafia Kill,” but were shot at the kneecap, he said.

The DA said he believes that the brothers’ “complete and continuous failure to murder” prevents them from having free opportunity.

“They have been lying to everyone for the past 30 years,” Hochman said. “If they ultimately move forward, clearly and honestly accept responsibility for the perjury lies they engaged in, and fully embrace, then the courts should weigh such new insights in the analysis of rehabilitation and responsibilities, as people do.”

The family of Eric and Lyle Menendez have condemned Hochmann’s claim that the brothers did not meet the standards of restinning.

“Let’s be clear. Eric and Lyle are not the same young boys as they were over 30 years ago,” Eric and Lyle Union Justice said in a statement Monday. “They apologized for the horrifying actions they took. They apologized to us, and they demonstrated their tone crime through countless actions that help improve lives. However, Da Hochman effectively asks them to a public apologise to a checklist of actions they took in shock and fear.”

The brothers’ resentment hearings are scheduled for March 20th and 21st.
