The Hollywood legend passed away over the weekend.
Dan Tana, the man who opened the famous Santa Monica Boulevard restaurant, has passed away.
“The great Dan Tana has inherited. Everyone knows he created a very magical place,” a statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page explained on August 16th.
In 1964 he opened a West Hollywood restaurant. The restaurant began as a late-night gathering place for stars, with the kitchen still open until 12:30am
The idea was a success, with celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Frank Sinatra becoming fans.
Born in Serbia, Dobryboe Tanasievic has become a soccer star playing for a variety of European teams.
“But America was his dream. To survive, he supplemented his income as a packer at the Starquist Tuna factory. Perhaps he learned something about good taste. And he also dreamed of becoming an actor in the drama class. “Dann never became an actor, but he was hanging out with major movie stars because Dan ultimately worked for La Scala, Villa Capri (the eye favorite of Jimmy Dean & Orblue).
In 2009, Tana sold the restaurant to her friend Sonjaperencevic and moved abroad.
The location remains a hotspot to this day.
“This guy is a legend, and as you know, legends never die,” his staff member said in the post.
Tana passed away at the age of 90 in Belgrade, Serbia. He is survived by his 19-year-old wife, Birjana, and daughters, Gabriel and Katerina.
