Shohei Ohtani’s beloved puppy, Decoy, is the star of a new children’s book, the MVP player announced on Instagram on Thursday.
The MLB Star Dog makes her debut in a novel entitled “DeCoy Saves Opening Day.” It is roughly based on real-life events, focusing on the opening pitch of the 2025-2026 season of Decoy.
According to the Dodgers star, sponsored by the animal rescue organization, all proceeds from the book will be donated to support animal rescue nonprofits.

It is expected to hit the bookshelf in February 2026, and interested people can pre-order books from some retailers.
This is not the first time a Decoy has stepped up to the plate. During the Dodgers’ Otani debut season, his famous dog abandoned his ritual first pitch with the Baltimore Orioles on August 28, 2024.
