Democrats across the country celebrated and protected the liberal majority on the bench after the liberal candidate won the famous election in a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat on Tuesday.
Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford defeated the conservative-minded Brad Simel, the former state attorney general who is now a state Circuit Court judge in Waukesha County. Simel was approved by President Donald Trump, and Elon Musk, the president’s senior billionaire adviser, spent millions of dollars opposed Crawford’s candidacy.
After a massive infusion of funds from a group of Democrats and Republicans from outside Wisconsin turned the race into the most expensive judicial election in the country’s history, the election partially transformed into a referendum on Trump’s actions in the early years of his second term at the White House.
Following Crawford’s victory, Democrats have said that battlefield state Wisconsin voters will send a clear message to reject Trump, Musk and the government’s efficiency (led by Musk) and reject the Republican agenda.
