Democrat Al Green has been ruled out after confusing Trump’s speech – NBC Los Angeles

Rep. D-Texas Al Green was removed from his House room Tuesday night after disrupting President Donald Trump’s joint speech to Congress.

Greene rocked his wand towards the president for a long time in the opening minutes of his speech and his previous term and inaugurated Trump’s bounce each.

Other lawmakers cheered, booed green, and caused even more confusion on the floor of the house when Trump paused his speech. The uproar prompted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to read out loud from the house rules.

“Members are instructed to maintain and maintain politeness in the home and stop any further confusion,” Johnson said as an advice aimed at the greens.

After Greene sat down and Trump refused to continue, Johnson called out House Sergeant with weapons to take him out of the room.

“Goodbye, goodbye,” the Republican chanted as Green was escorted out of the room.

Outside the Chamber of Commerce, Green told NBC News that as a “man of conscience,” he believes Trump “does what we think we can’t continue.”

“This whole budget he has is a cut to Medicaid and when he said he had a delegation, it caused something, and that really did.

President Donald Trump’s speech to Congress began with the uproar of Texas Rep. Al Green.

The room Tuesday night was filled with other signs of protest and pushback.

Members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus were wearing pink to protest Trump’s policies on women and families. Other Democrats wore blue and yellow ties at an unexpected, hostile oval office meeting, days after President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance were intertwined with Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky.

It also appears to be some Democrats: stickers accusing Elon Musk of “stealing Social Security.” Musk, a billionaire whose government’s efficiency initiative scrutinizes Social Security finances, calls the program the “Ponzi Plan.”

Some Democrats also held black paddles with the words “Save Medicaid”, “Protect Veterans” and “Musk Steele.” D-Mich. Rep. Rashida Tlalib of the company held a white board with the words “That’s a lie.”

House Democrats also took off their jackets and revealed a black shirt written on their backs. Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Andrea Salinas of Oregon had shirts to read “resistance.” Florida Sen. Maxwell Frost said, “The king is already there.”

D-Calif. Rep. Sidney Kamlager Dove posted to X that he came out of his speech because he felt the president’s remarks were “shameful.”

“There are so many bulls — people can tolerate,” she wrote.

House Democrats who attended the meeting said House Democrats urged their members during an early closing party meeting Tuesday.

Minority Whip Catherine Clark (D-Mass.) specifically asked members not to use “props” to protest their speech tonight.

Melanie Zanona, Julie Tsarkin and Kate Santalis contributed.

In a speech to Congress, President Donald Trump called on Democrats to celebrate America’s greatest movement once again.
