The Democratic Doctor Caucus was interrupted by a barrage of tourists at a press conference outside the office of house speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday.

As Congress rushed to pass President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” before the July 4 deadline, House Democrats held a press conference at the Capitol on Wednesday in protest of the $3.3 trillion bill.

The Democratic Doctor Caucus, made up of six Democrat doctors who serve in the House, planned a press conference in the statue hall, located under the hall, from the House Speaker’s office.

Apparently, the Caucus moved the press conference just outside the speaker’s office, as he noticed a big gag from a reporter dyeing Johnson’s office amid last minute member holdout negotiations. Wearing white coats in the crowded hallways, Democrat doctors began making prepared remarks.

However, the area was a major tourist corridor, and the press conference was soon flooded with tourists walking into the statue hall from Rotunda, past Johnson’s office.

Officers instructed members to stand on one side of the hallway, while the press stood on the other side.

As a result, the chatter between the tour guide and tourists owned their comments, which was not available for journalists. No Democrats were heard.

Their press conference created somewhat of a tourist traffic jam between the two areas as officers struggled to keep the area open.

Since Trump was elected in November, Democrats have opposed potential Medicaid cuts. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Trump’s megaville will likely lose health insurance by 2034.

Trump has argued that the bill will not cut Medicaid, and Republicans have argued that it will only reduce program waste, fraud and abuse, but Democrats continue to oppose the predicted cuts.

The Democratic Doctor Caucus planned to highlight the harm that Medicaid cuts could have at hospitals at a press conference on Wednesday, but their remarks were owned by the steady stream and chatter of tourists traveling from the Rotunda to the statue hall.
