Democratic George Whitesides, a former NASA chief of staff and political newcomer, will defeat Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Garcia to represent northern Los Angeles County in the 2025 Congress, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The race to represent California’s 27th Congressional District was one of the most closely contested House races of this election.
Whiteside, a former chief executive of Virgin Galactic, loaned his campaign more than $1 million during the campaign, narrowly winning at a time when much of American politics was moving to the right. Ta.

“It’s the honor of a lifetime to be chosen to serve our district in Congress and serve Santa Clarita, the Antelope Valley, and the San Fernando Valley,” Whiteside told X (formerly Twitter) on Monday night. I mentioned it in my post.
Garcia, who has held the position since 2020, is a Navy pilot and former executive at defense contractor Raytheon Corp., he confirmed Monday night in a statement posted to him. social media:
“I will always strive to serve this great country in any way I can, to preserve its greatness, keep its people safe, and protect its future.”
The Republican added that he spoke with Whiteside earlier this evening, offered his congratulations and promised a smooth handover of the voter case.
