Forced removal of California Sen. Alex Padilla – he immediately made a national headline as he tried to question Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem at a press conference.

However, in Thursday’s incident, Padilla was handcuffed and temporarily detained, aiming to oppose the Trump administration’s migrant attacks that sparked unrest in Los Angeles and led to smaller protests around the country.

Padilla, along with California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), sent a donation email to supporters highlighting the incident on Friday.

“If that’s what they’re asking questions to US senators, imagine what they’d do with farm workers, day workers, cooks and other non-violent immigrants they’re targeting in California and across the country,” Padilla emailed supporters in his email.

In his fundraising email, Sif called him “one of the most decent people I know.”

And the DNC accused the forced removal of senators of one of the Trump administration’s “steps to authoritarianism.”

Video of the incident showed Padilla walking to the Gnome while speaking on the podium at a press conference. Padilla attempted to scream at the Gnome at the same time, but law enforcement intervened and forced Padilla to stop her advance.

U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla will be kicked out of the room as Homeland Security Secretary Christa Noem holds a press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Padilla was eventually brought to the ground and handcuffed, the video showed. Fox News reporters attending the press conference said it appears that Padilla has been in custody for a period of time.

Democrats quickly united in support of Padilla and denounced the Trump administration, while some Republicans denounced the Grand Standing Senator.

The incident came amid a week of protests in Los Angeles, sparked by an immigrant raid carried out by ice at the direction of the Trump administration.

The president sent the National Guard and mobilized the Marines to quell the uproar.

Trump is also looking for uncertainties in Los Angeles.

Trump National Committee JFC, one of the Co-Overview Committees established by the then-supervisor president during the 2024 campaign that successfully reclaimed the White House, sent a donation email on Thursday.

“American homelands are under attack! Cities across the country are on fire! The radical madman in masks is throwing cinder blocks with our great policemen and the military! President Trump won’t allow that,” the email said.
