House members from both sides of the aisle responded strongly shortly after the viral explosion of Sen. Alex Padilla, who was kicked out of a Homeland Security press conference held in Los Angeles on Thursday.
New York’s minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Florida’s Anna Paulina Luna and Ohio’s Jim Jordan spoke to Fox News Digital after Padilla was escorted from the hearing.
“It was crazy,” Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y.
“That’s a bad situation,” Jeffries said.

Many Democrats have even denounced how the Secret Service handcuffed and removed Padilla from the room during the event, and some even called on Nome to resign. Padilla and DHS secretary Christy Noem later held a meeting. Padilla’s office described it as “citizen” and was told “from the heart” despite strong differences of opinion between the two.
Luna, a Florida Republican, said the virus incident speaks to a bigger optical issue with a Democrat man.
“I think Optics is pretty bad for all Democrat men,” Luna said.
“I mean, he was actively approaching her. Clearly, security saw it as a threat. After the fact, she pulled it, pulled it and swapped the numbers, and then he’s a sitting senator and he’s acting strange.

Jordan, a Republican of Ohio, wondered why Padilla was in Los Angeles instead of Washington, D.C., as the Senate was in session on Thursday.
“Well, the first thing that comes to mind is why he doesn’t vote here.
“I know they’re in the session, so why is he doing it here? And then, why, why isn’t he waiting and not having his own press conference? The press is there. The camera is there. The microphone is there. I’m waiting until the secretary’s nom is finished. I’m in and make a scene,” the Republican added.
Padilla hopes people will feel “anger” at his forced removal and detention
