Democratic city council sues mayor for putting ice in American prisons

The Democrat-controlled city council in New York City is working with the Trump administration to sues Mayor Eric Adams by allowing Ice to conduct an immigration investigation at Rikers Island prison.

The city council has asked the court to declare an executive order by the mayor’s office, allowing Rikers Island to be “illegal, null and invalidated.”

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in the New York Supreme Court. In the lawsuit, the city council accused Adams of engaging in the Trump administration of illegal “Quid Pro Quo” by putting ice in city prisons in exchange for lowering federal corruption charges against him.

The lawsuit argues that Adams, who is running for reelection as an independent, will prioritize his own political goals over the city’s “valuable sanctuary laws” and call the executive order “Adams’s addict in his dealings with the Trump administration.”

New Jersey governor, DOJ, accused of carrying violent illegal offenders, begins investigation

New York City Council speaker Adrian Adams, a Democrat running to remove Adams, a statement Tuesday claimed that the order that allowed Ice to conduct immigration investigations on Rikers Island was “Eric Adams’ naked attempt to reach the end of Burgaine for the special treatment he received from the Trump administration.”

“Today, corrupt bargains are being made in New York City with a clear view. New York City Mayor Eric Adams is using his official authority to pay off the Trump administration to drop criminal charges against him,” the lawsuit alleges. “The “purchase price” – agreed in advance and now offered – is the safety and welfare of the immigrant community and all New Yorkers, and the rights are protected by the city’s respected sanctuary laws. ”

The issue of the lawsuit comes with an executive order signed last week by New York City’s first vice-mayor Randy Mastro, which allows federal immigration authorities to run the Rikers Island office and conduct criminal investigations into drug trafficking, organized violence and immigration gang activities.

The order states that New Yorkers’ safety is at risk by violent multinational gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, a gang designated by the Trump administration as a foreign terrorist group, and it is important for federal law enforcement to share “real-time” intelligence with the city’s Department of Corrections and police.

The order allows federal law enforcement agencies to share the Corrections Department, NYPD and Intelligence Reporting Agency for the activities of individuals, both within and outside of custody.

It simply enforces citizen immigrants who arrest people for undocumented and does not grant ice permission to arrest people.

The order was issued the week after the federal charges against Adams were dismissed. He used his status as mayor and was accused of receiving luxurious travel and illegal campaign contributions by Turkish foreigners. Adams argued that the incident was politically motivated and sought retaliation for President Joe Biden’s criticism of immigration policies.

New York City Council speaker Adrian Adams, a Democrat running to remove Adams, a statement Tuesday claimed that the order that allowed Ice to conduct immigration investigations on Rikers Island was “Eric Adams’ naked attempt to meet the bargain end for the special treatment he received from the Trump administration.”

She said the city council lawsuit was “an attempt to protect the rights and safety of all New Yorkers from attacks by the Trump administration.”

Adams spokesman Kayla Mamelak responded to the lawsuit by calling it “basically unfounded” and “opposed to the public interest.”

“It appears that the city council is spreading misinformation,” Mamerak told Fox News Digital. “So let’s be clear: To maintain the trust of the nearly 8.5 million New Yorkers that our administration serves and protects daily, and to ensure that there will never even be a conflict, all powers, liability, and federal officials have delegated decisions related to the lawsuit sanctions on Rikers Island.

The spokesman said Mastro “has conducted a thorough and independent assessment, including multiple visits to Rikers Island, conversations with federal law enforcement and our own Department of Corrections, and independently concluded that the existence of the federal government at Riker to conduct federal criminal investigations is in New York City’s best interests, and that it protects public efforts targeting efforts targeting our current transnational gangs, particularly those targeting efforts to target our current transnational gangs.”

“Executive Order 50 is expressly approved by the local laws of New York City. It is the very law enacted by the city council,” Mamerak said. “We review the lawsuits, which are unfounded and seem to be against the public interest of protecting New Yorkers from violent offenders. We are continuing to be committed to the administration’s efforts to reduce crime and keep New Yorkers safe. We hope that the city council will take part in doing so.”
