Kari Lake has not retreated.

In a blunt testimony before Congress on Wednesday, Lake declared US Global Media (USAGM), a $950 million agency that she is a senior adviser overseeing American Voice (VOA), and by 2026 it is on track as “rotten.”

“This place is rotten. It’s rotten to the heart,” Lake told the House Oversight Committee. “President Trump asked me to come in and clean it up. He also issued an executive order to reduce this agency to its mission, to what it is legally necessary. That’s exactly what I’m doing. I don’t care if they’ll attack me or not.”

She is not acting alone. Lake is R-Ky on Fox News Digital. He provided letters from James Comer, chairman of James Comer and R-Ga’s Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, demanding records on the recruitment of foreigners at USAGM, conflicts of interest, disinformation and national security processing.

President Donald Trump said, “Why Republicans want a Democrat ‘moothpiece’, the Voice of America (VOA)? It’s a complete left-wing disaster – Republicans shouldn’t vote for its survival. Kill me! ”

Lake did not refrain from explaining what he found on USAGM.

“It’s really like a rotten fish,” she said. “And you’re watching it, and you’re saying, ‘Is there anything you can pull out of here and eat?” And it’s best to dispose of the whole thing and start over again. ”

The Court of Appeal states that VoA’s Overhaul Cali Lake “modernization” agent: “President Trump’s great victory”

Instead of defending American values overseas, she argued that federally funded domestic and international communications agencies have been compromised with hostile actors who could influence what is broadcast on the US taxpayer dime.

” [Chinese Communist Party] “We have more control over what we edited than our agency managers. That’s possible. We’re trying to understand that.”

She denounced grantees, including the VOA, Radio Free Asia and the Open Technology Fund, for resisting surveillance and enduring basic financial reviews.

“About $400 million, hardworking Americans of hard-working taxpayers, go to these grantees. They’ve smeared us out of getting information up to 11 hours,” Lake said. “Finally, last night, when I found out I was sitting here, they finally agreed to say, ‘Oh, we’ll let you see our book now.” I’m kidding what’s going on. ”

Lake did not discover a lack of support from Republicans on the committee. This was followed by Rep. Tim Burchett. including: he said it should be closed a few years ago.

“We might also be on a model in the middle of the street. It looks good and brings back old memories, but padgum, it’s not very efficient,” Burchett said.

The lake agreed, adding, “It’s a relic.”

Democrats accused the Lake of dismantling its strategic assets and repeating the same anti-voa rhetoric as China used.

D-Pa. “You just want to reduce it to the statutory minimum, and you said it’s going to disappear by 2026. The president wants to erase it by 2026,” said Congressman Madeleine Dean.

Dean adds, “You’ve misunderstood this committee. …You’ve lost credibility. You poured it into a bucket,” and says to the lake, “No questions asked.”

D-Texas Rep. Julie Johnson argued that the layoffs “pass on all the soft powers of the world to their enemies.” [VOA] Every week. “

The Lake responded frankly, “They are government numbers, and I don’t trust those numbers.”

“It’s a sad situation when you don’t trust the government you represent.”

Lake defended Cut, saying it follows the law and common sense.

“We’re doing what we need legally,” she said. “President Trump, the statutory minimum, announced on his executive order…that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Rep. Young Kim (R-Calif) expressed concern that reducing staff from grantees could undermine our influence in hotspots such as Iran and North Korea.

“We can do that with small staff,” Lake replied. “This newsroom should have been reduced a long time ago. …It’s over. So many people were working in the newsroom, so we reduced it.”

She added that many grantees’ roles are redundant.

“Why does RFA need to do Mandarin News Service when you’re doing Mandarin at VOA?” Lake said.

R-Fla. Rep. Brian Mast was closed on comparison. IheartMedia operates a nationwide business worth $90 million a year. USAGM budget? About $1 billion.

The message of the lake’s closing was in person.

“We can do this smarter, more lean, and loyal to American values,” she said.
