Democrat leaders erupted late Thursday after it was reported that President Trump had suddenly fired Congressional Carla Hayden librarian.

Hayden was notified late Thursday by the White House Presidency Office that he fired in an email, according to an email seen by the Associated Press.

“Carla,” reportedly said that emails have begun. “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to let you know that your position as a librarian in Congress has soon ended. I would like to thank you for your service.”

Hayden, who was nominated for former President Barack Obama and confirmed to the Senate in 2016, was the first woman and the first African American in the role, Hayden, who was scheduled to expire next year. Advocates praised the tenure for helping modernize libraries and making them more accessible with initiatives in rural communities and online.

However, Hayden fired from the American Accountability Foundation, a conservative advocacy group. This accused her and other library leaders of promoting children’s books with “radical” content and literary material created by Trump’s opponents.

Earlier on Thursday, hours before the shooting was made public, AAF accused Hayden of “waking up” and “anti-Trump” on X, accusing her of promoting “Transkid.”

“It’s time to let her out and hire a new guy for work!” the group wrote.

In a follow-up post on X, the group celebrated the news of Hayden’s firing and thanked President Trump.

Hayden’s report sparked the rage of prominent Democratic leaders, including House minority leaders Heicombe Jeffries, DN.Y., and New York Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.

Jeffries praised Hayden as “a skilled, principled and well-known Congressional librarian.”

“Donald Trump’s unfair decision to fire Dr. Hayden in an email sent by a random political hack is dishonorable and is the latest in his ongoing efforts to ban books, whitewash American history and pull back the clock,” Jeffries said.

“Adequate is enough,” Schumer said, calling Hayden “a trailblazer, scholar, and civil servant of the highest order.”

D-Conn. Rep. Rosa Delaulo of the group said Hayden was “mercilessly fired” by Trump and demanded an explanation.

“Hayden has spent his entire career serving people from helping children learn to read some of our country’s most precious treasures,” said Rep. Joseph Morell of New York, a top Democrat on the House Management Committee that oversees the libraries.

New Mexico Sen. Martin Heinrich, a top Democrat on the Senate Committee, which oversees library funding, said the fire would “take his attacks on American libraries to a new level.”

“Dr. Hayden has dedicated her career to making reading and knowledge pursuits accessible to everyone,” he said.

The Library of Congress has a vast collection of national books and history that make it accessible to the public and lawmakers. It houses almost 20 presidents and more than three dozen Supreme Court judges papers. They also have a collection of rare books, prints, photographs, music and most of the precious artifacts.

Librarian Robert Newlen said in another email the Associated Press would serve as a representative of Congress “until further instructions.”

“I promise that everyone will continue to provide information,” he wrote to a colleague.

Hayden’s firing comes when the Trump administration is seen as being viewed as not in line with the president’s agenda.

Earlier on Thursday, Cameron Hamilton, acting manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, was fired a day after he told lawmakers that dismantling the agency was a bad move, as President Trump proposed.
