Democrats are fighting teeth and nails to stop plans for Texas legislators to redraw maps of the state’s legislature, but critics, including prominent members of their own party, say they don’t hold accurate moral highlands.
Democrats fled the state to avoid rezoning votes. This is expected to add Republican seats to the lonely Starbucks’ Assembly. They are receiving Rockstar treatment as they visit Blue State, where they pledged Jerrymander Republicans from their own Congressional delegation, which retaliated for Texas efforts.

But Democratic strategist Julian Epstein told Fox News Live on Saturday that his party is inevitable from criticism.
“No, I don’t think they have any moral authority and there’s a lot of congestion of pearls,” he said.
Several blue states, including Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Mexico, do not have Republicans in their House delegations. And many feature oddly drawn districts that appear to be made to limit GOP expressions.
“The Democrats don’t have a clean hand here. You see a state like Massachusetts, New Jersey[…] Illinois, California and Democrats had virtually gerrymanders of Republicans,” Epstein added.

Epstein warned that national district battles could create “race to the bottom,” leaving Republicans and Democrats in states led by the other side could lead to those left behind the democratic process. Epstein cited New Jersey. In New Jersey, Trump won 46% of the vote in 2024, but Republicans only have three of the 12 Congress seats.
Meanwhile, Republican Texas Rep. Brian Harrison told Fox News Digital on Saturday that Democrats are guilty of “complete hypocrisy and fake rage.”

“That’s because the Democrats, after the Democrats, have been escaping hell from the map of Congress for 10 years,” he said.
“Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware, all have zeros. If you’re a Republican in those Democrats, you have no voice in Congress,” he added. “and [there are] There are many people who have given me only one seat in Oregon, Maine and Maryland. ”
In California, special elections could be held in November to counter Texas’s district change plans.

“We’re talking about emergency measures to address what’s going on in Texas, and we’re going to override what’s going on in Texas,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Friday.
“We pick up five seats with the consent of people. That’s the difference between the approach we take and the approach they take,” Newsmom added. “We’re doing it temporarily. We’re doing it in a completely transparent way, and we’re doing it by asking the people of California for their consent and support.”
Harrison explained that there are many reasons behind the push for Texas’ constituency, including the population growth of Lone Star State since the last census.
