Four California Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are on the target list of liberal Democratic groups preparing for the 2026 election.
Emily’slist, a group dedicated to selecting Democratic women to help support access to abortion, announced Wednesday morning that four Republicans from the state were on the Congress’s 46 “notice” GOP members.
The liberal group has sincerely supported the agendas of President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, with Kevin Keeley of Rocklin, David Valadao of Hanford, young Kim of Anaheim Hills and Ken Calvert of Corona, who said turning their districts upside down is crucial to democratic efforts to power in the House.
“People around the country are in pain. From reducing slavery and fuel to important programs for veterans and farmers, voting for healthcare for millions, to continuing assault on our fundamental rights and freedoms, there is no boundary between chaos and cruelty.” “In 2026, we must reclaim our majority of our US homes to create a federal check on Donald Trump.”
California, Pennsylvania and Florida have the most Republicans on the group’s target list.
Dozens of state legislators are on the nonpartisan Cook Political Report’s list of competitive races. The importance of states in the medium term is due to several reasons. Even after losing a seat in Congress early in the decade after the US Census, California still has the largest congressional delegation in the country with 52 members.
State voters also shaped district lines by drawing the district boundaries of Congressional districts from the hands of state lawmakers, creating panels of Republicans, Democrats and non-Paltis to end gerrymandering and create a more competitive race.
The state’s legislative race was a mixed bag in recent cycles. Republicans were shot in 2018, but picked up seats in 2020 and 2022, helping former Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R. Bakersfield) become a temporary speaker at home.
However, last year, while the GOP exceeded expectations for most of the country, three California incumbents were defeated. And Republicans will likely face headwinds next year as the White House party will often see a set-up in Congressional elections two years from now.
“Next November… the house has seats to win, existing people to defend, and more pick-up opportunities,” former State GOP chair Jessica Millan Patterson told reporters at the party’s convention this month in Sacramento. “The road to the House will once again pass through California.”
