The Trump administration fired hundreds of high-level Homeland Security employees this week as part of a move to remove the administration’s goals and the country’s third largest institutions deemed to be misplaced. Three sources who are prepared to do so, said they are familiar with the issue. NBC News.
Sources said the Trump administration has a “centralized plan” and a list of people at high levels across all components of DHS, which are scheduled to be targeted this week.
The shooting comes on top of hundreds of general cuts that began across the DHS on Friday night. It targeted the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. These shootings were the latest in government-wide efforts to reduce the federal workforce.
This week, three sources will be on NBC News that high-level management career employees, namely senior executive services and general schedule 15 employees, may be removed from DHS agents. I believe it could be in the way of the goals the Trump administration has for institutions.
DHS, including customs and border protection, immigration and customs enforcement, is the main body tasked with enforcing US immigration laws. Trump relied heavily on the CBP to secure a southwest border and intensified arrests and deportation of undocumented immigrants living in the United States on the ice.
These high-level employees are “career people who influence policy and strategy in these positions,” a former senior Biden administration official responds to the news of the plan.
President Donald Trump signed the memorandum on Thursday, seeking to impose “fair and mutual” trade tariffs on all major US trading partners, including longtime allies.
Trump administration officials defended the plan. When asked whether DHS would make it difficult for Trump to achieve immigration goals, the administration said it was eliminating those who believe “deliberately stop things.”
“These people put themselves in a terrible position and they need to be removed,” Trump administration officials said.
A DHS and the White House spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.
