A Salvador citizen, accused of killing an Inglewood man in February while trying to steal a catalytic converter, was in the United States for the second time despite being deported before, federal prosecutors said Friday.
Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez is among 16 people charged by the Department of Justice who allegedly re-entered illegally after being taken away.
Saravia and another were arrested on February 6th and suspended catalytic converter theft while working in the beginning of February.
Sarabia was taken into custody after an hour’s standoff with law enforcement at the Kadahee Motel.
Federal authorities said Saravia was first reported in 2013, but he again returned to the country illegally.
Saravia holds state custody and faces murder charges.
People discovered in the US after being reported could reach up to two years in federal prisons.
The punishment became even more severe for criminal convicted people, as those deported after being convicted of a felony were sentenced to up to 10 years, and the defendant was excluded after facing up to 20 years in federal prison after being convicted of a felony.
